Qatari investors are reportedly set to make a £5billion bid in the race to own Manchester United, as Friday night's deadline for interested parties looms.

Sealed bids are expected around 10pm in UK time and 5pm in New York, which is the home of merchant bankers Raine who will assess through the offers.

The offer though of £5bn from Qatar as reported by Bloomberg will raise eyebrows considering the club's American owners, the Glazer family, requested a billion more in what is expected to be a highly competitive bidding war.

Offers are expected to come in from all over the globe - as well as from the UK.
